First-Time Storage Provider Index

The backbone of the ScPrime network is its hosts, or Storage Providers. These providers rent out their unused hard drive space to the ScPrime project to sell to their customers. Becoming a ScPrime Storage Provider is also a great way to earn passive income while also helping to build the ‘Distributed Datacenter’.

While setting up a storage provider instance is straight forward for the most part, it can be daunting at first. The project has created several guides and articles to help new Storage Providers get online and start earning SCP fast!

- This guide will help you use the ScPrime UI to setup a provider instance. The UI makes the setup process simple, but once online, it is recommended that providers use the Command Line to run their host. This guide will explain how to do that as well.

- This guide will show you how to use the Command Line Interface (CLI) to setup a provider instance. While a bit more complex then the UI for setup, it is the recommended way to get online as hosts should be run from the Command Line on a daily basis.

- This guide will help Linux users (Ubuntu 20.04) setup a provider instance.

- Provider uptime is an extremely important metric for a host. The more the uptime, the more the Storage Provider can earn. For a number of reasons, especially with Windows, host can go offline because of updates or outages. Uptime Robot is a handy tool that will alert you when your instances goes offline, so you can get it back online quickly.

- This evolving document has the current community guidelines (to earn incentives) as well as some common Storage Provider practices such as setting up a DNS, drive compression and creating an auto restart batch file for your provider instance.

- Once you’re provider is online, be sure to fill out this application to start earning incentives.

- Monitor the network status on this dashboard. Find your provider instances to see your current stats and earnings.

- Learn more about how you can earn SCP as a Storage Provider through rent and the Incentive Program.

Further Troubleshooting

- Built by community member Nate, this tool will scan your host and let you know of any problems. It will also offer possible solutions.

- If you’re stuck around block 109,000, check this document for a possible solution.

- Use this tool to confirm your ports (4282 and 4283) are opened properly on your router.

It is important to the ScPrime team that our guides are helpful. We would love your feedback on your experiences using them. They are also all evolving documents, so we will for sure incorporate any helpful feedback from our community. Please message gord in the ScPrime with any comments.
